One Room Challenge: Wk 7.5, Bedroom and Ensuite- Almost Done
It’s Week 8 (Update: 2 day extension after I wrote this) of the ORC, and it’s been the busiest yet. It’s 10pm, and we just opened the box to build our bed… Need I say more? This sums up our week- OH MAN.
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT:
Week 7- DIY Cabinetry & Upgrades
It’s been a week of full of progress! There’s been deliveries, DIY floor installations, shower refinishing, more cabinetry DIYs, installing our countertop, shopping trips, DIY artwork, and my 8yo’s birthday, but… we just need a few more days. However, I’m pretty sure there’s no extensions in this ORC :p
I assumed our flooring would still be available at the store, but we all know what happens when you assume… They were scheduled to come May 28th, but luckily came on May 22nd!
We started installing our faux marble tiles last night. I’ve used a basic grid pattern in our other rooms, but I couldn’t find a good center point to line up the tile with. The walkthrough opening from the bedroom to the ensuite is off-center from the vanity. I hopped on the bandwagon, and decided on an offset brick pattern. This design challenge actually elevated the look of our vinyl tiles. (I love it when that happens!)
I had 4 shower consultations, and decided our best option for timeline and budget was to get our shower stall refinished. I think the before & after speaks for itself. Goodbye peeling paint and stains… Hello glossy white walls and floors!
Did you read about my plans for our IKEA nightstands last week, in my Week 7 blogpost? I am so happy how much DIY fluted nightstands turned out. It took about 1.5hrs each, to cut and attach all of the self-adhesive strips.
While a sink & closet combo sounds like a good space-saving idea, I much prefer it on our newly painted vanity cabinet.
I was so grateful when my peel and stick wallpaper from Spoonflower arrived a week earlier than expected! It’s going to look amazing on my closet doors. I also shopped for towels, bath mats, and shower accessories.
Time to DIY some artwork! I reused 1 of the canvases from my previous pair of artwork that I made several years ago. I painted it white to start fresh. A piece from West Elm was my inspiration for this piece. I pulled out my acrylic paints, a large sponge dabber, and got to work. I am really happy how this turned out!
(Update: As it turns out, there’s been a 48hr extension, so I’ll see you again in a few days!)
